Den and Pack Meeting Resource Guide - materials
Program Helps has been replaced with the Den and Pack Meeting Resource Guide. Think of this book as a "cookbook" you can use to plan out your Scouting "meals" (meetings). Like a cookbook, "season" it and "change up the recepies" as you desire.
Pack Meetings will now have themes based on Cub Scouting Values:
September - Cooperation January - Positive Attitude May - Health and Fitness October - Responsibility February - Resourcefulness June - Perseverance November - Citizenship March - Compassion July - Courage December - Respect April - Faith August – Honesty

Den Meetings are designed for rank advancement. In the Cub Scouts 2010 program, it is recommended that a Den has two den meetings a month, one activity/event, and one Pack Meeting. The Den and Pack Meeting Resource Guide has 16 prepared Den Meetings for you, two for the first eight months of the year (September-April). If you work on them in order, by February (when most Packs have their Blue & Gold dinner), you should be at Meeting 12, and your Cub Scouts should be ready to advance in rank. A den meeting should last about 1 hour and 45 minutes. If you have shorter meetings, either have more meetings or make more "Home Assignments." Some Den Leaders may elect to have a "catch up" meeting once a month, for Cub Scouts who don't complete their home assignments, or who miss a meeting.
The Den and Pack Meeting Resource Guide has supplemental meetings for Tigers, Wolfs and Bears, in case you wish to meet weekly, or if you have summer den meetings. Although there are no prepared supplemental meetings for Webelos and Arrow of Light Dens, those dens can work on additional Webelos Activity Pins.

The Den and Pack Meeting Resource Guide is also available in print for $6.99 (4/8/2012) from the Council Service Center. This may be more economical than printing the whole book out. It is also nice to have it available electronically, especially if you have a PDF creation program on your computer, so you can print out just one particular meeting and email it to others in your Pack. |
